The City of Lloydminster is located in the County of Vermilion River (241 kilometres east of Edmonton and 275 kilometres west of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan).
Agriculture is the foundation on which the Lloydminster Region was built. Since the area was first settled in the early 1900s, agriculture has played a vital part in its development. Agriculture is the region's second largest industry, pumping over 1 billion dollars into the economy.
The Region's latest growth is largely due to the success of developments in oil production. Oil continues to be the driving force of the regional economy. Currently, oil related companies employ over 4,000
employees in the region. These employees are involved in oil field services, manufacturing, drilling, transportation and production.
